Throwback Thursday – Ernie
Meet Ernie, the star of this week’s throwback Thursday.
We asked mum, Jenny, a few questions to find out more about this little cheeky chap.
Why this name?
‘It was already one of our favourites, but oddly enough, Ernie was born with an umbilical hernia, so the breeder had been calling him Ernie from day one. When we found that out, we knew it was meant to be.’
‘He is 4 years old.’
‘Ernie is a West Highland White Terrier, but there’s definitely a little bit of something else in there… we just don’t know what.’
Why this breed?
‘My husband Nick has always loved Westies and had a bee in his bonnet about getting one.’
How old was Ernie when he joined your family?
‘He was four months old.’
Where did you get your pet from?
‘He was from a local breeder.’
‘He’s a real mummy’s boy.’
‘It has to be a ball. He loves having a kickabout in the garden with his dad.’
‘The beach, tummy rubs and rustling binbags (he’s always keen to help with chores and take the bins out!).’
‘Fireworks, noisy cars and motorbikes. He also hates the foxes that come through our garden and torment him.’
Any funny or interesting stories to share?
‘The first time we let Ernie off-lead on the beach, he zoomed around for a few minutes then ran straight into the water at full speed. He had never seen the sea before, had never swum and certainly wasn’t expecting it to be quite as cold as it was so he just sank! Nick had to wade in after him and fish out a very shocked little pup. He has never had the urge to swim since then.’
If you could have any other breed, what would it be?
‘A Border Terrier or a Blue Whippet. They’re both gorgeous!’
