Crufts 2019

And in the wag of a tail, it’s over for another year. In this blog we look at the highlights from Crufts 2019 and find out how a few of our breeders got on.

Crufts sees an average of 160,000 visitors and 28,000 dogs attending over the 4 days, with over 200 breeds competing for a place in the final.

Fabulous Papillon, Planet Waves Forever Young Daydream, aka Dylan, was crowned Best in Show. Dylan, who is owned by Kathleen Roosens, was also named winner of the Toy group.

This is the first time in Crufts 128 show history, that a Papillon has taken the Best in Show title.

Reserve Best in Show went to Hound group winner, Soletrader Magic Mike, aka Mike, a three-year-old Basset Griffon Vendeen from Oxfordshire.

Other Best in Show finalists were as follows…

Working Group

Lanfrese Ocolardo, aka Dave, a six-year-old Boxer from Oxfordshire.

Gundog Group

Gloi Donn All or Nothing at Stangate, aka Luther, a three-year-old Irish Water Spaniel from Cumbria.

Pastoral Group

Dorian Spring Charleen Lumiere De La Vie, aka Charleen, a six-year-old Samoyed from Portugal.

We also want to celebrate the achievements of a few of our Buddies Breeders.

Jan Moir and daughter Lisa Moir with German Spitz Mittel

Hayley McCallum with Havanese

Bruce, aka Pandaprint Believe in Magic JW won Best of Breed.

‘Huge thanks to Mrs Raye Parry for thinking so highly of my boy and making my dreams come true. At just 17 months of age, Brucie showed his socks off to become the youngest Havanese ever to win BOB (and a dog CC) at Crufts, from a lovely entry of 89 Havanese.’ Says Hayley.

Sam Dawson with Beagle

Charlotte, aka Rundle Going For Gold, along with young handler Kyra took VHC in limit bitch.

‘We took 4 Beagles to Crufts on Saturday. Bella and Bonnie were unplaced but still enjoyed their day out. Entries were high in all the beagle classes, so we were over the moon with the results.’ Says Sam.

Morgan Shoosmith-Taite, daughter of Buddies Breeder Alison Shoosmith.

‘This year she has surpassed all possible expectations by doing so incredibly well in all of her competing areas of the Young Kennel Club which is for 6-24-year old’s. Morgan won her age class in Grooming and then went on to win Young Groomer of the Year against all age groups. On top of this she also gained 2nd Place in agility as well as 2nd in dog handling with her own Standard Poodles.’ Says Alison.

We hope you are now all fully recovered and rested following the marvelous madness that was Crufts 2019.
