Buddies Yearling Stakes 2019 – Working

The latest of our Yearling Stakes heats was held at Working and Pastoral Breeds Association of Wales on Saturday 20th April.

Both working and pastoral classes had some fantastic entries, with judging from Mrs R Parry.

In this blog, we take a look at those who placed in the Working heats.

Securing their place at the final from the dog class was Siberian Husky, Zaltana Kiss My Paws At Lolotea JW – pet name Paws. 14-month-old Paws is owned by Kerstin Tinker.

‘Paws is a sweet natured loving cuddle buddy. He gained his JW and stud book number at just 11 months of age. Following Buddies Yearling Stakes win, he went on to take dog RCC the same day.’ Says Kerstin.

Joining Paws at the final is CH/Swiss CH Avice Reach For The Sky with Bouvpilot NLJCH JWW18 BJWNL, who won the Bitch Class. Bouvier des Flandres, Skye is 20 months old.

‘She is the dark destroyer.  Cushions, soft toys, anything with filling is disembowelled with a gleeful smile.’ Says owner Fiona Lambert.

Skye took her first CC during her first show at just 9 months of age. Her 3rd CC came at 11 months and 4th for Champion at 12 months and 2 weeks. She also took Top Puppy in the Working Group 2018.

She has a number of wins under her belt including UK Ch, Swiss Ch, 4 CAC in Holland and 3 CAC in Swizerland. Skye also took Dutch Junior Champ, World Junior Winner, Benelux Junior winner and Alpine winner too.

Taking second place in the dog class was Bouvier des Flandres, Nikolaev Coburn At Jonaida, who is owned by David and Di Jones.

Working Bitch - 2nd - BullmastiffTaking second place in the bitch class was Geron Abbott’s 19-month-old Bullmastiff, Alonzobar Blac Chyna JW.

‘Chyna loves swimming and climbing mountains. She’s a much-loved part of our family and sometimes a bit crazy. She was Top Bullmastiff Puppy 2018 and Top Puppy in the Bullmastiff winner’s event 2019.’ Says Geron.

Third in the dog class was won by 20-month-old Boxer, Rocvilla Chances Secret.

‘His pet name is Eb, after my grandfather. His favourite thing at the moment is winding his mum up, but he doesn’t get away with much, as she soon puts him in his place. One of his notable achievements was winning the Reserve CC at the Midlands Boxer Club Championship show. He has also had numerous placing at championship and open shows.’ Says owner Sadie Evans.

Siberian Husky, Articskies Ruby Tuesday For Cwnhapus took third in the bitch class. Young Sansa is owned by Huw & Barabara Morris, and is just 15 months old.

‘At home, she is known as the ‘Ginger Ninja’ because she is so full of life and is usually found in the wrong place at the wrong time.’ Says Huw.

Sansa has a successful show career to date winning best puppy bitch in breed at Belfast Championship show 2018. She also qualified for both the South Wales Kennel Association Puppy of the Year 2019, and the Welsh Junior of the Year 2019.

Working Dog - RES 2Penny Forrest and Gina Thomas took RES in the dog class, with their 19-month-old St Bernard, Tombears Who Dares Wines Over Philandros – pet name Harley.

‘We had a lovely day at W&P, having won the Open dog class and being Reserve Best of Sex, he then went on to place 4th in the Buddies Yearling Stakes.

Harley enjoys life to the full and has such a cheeky personality. He loves nothing better than to get covered in mud, but luckily, he also loves water too which makes getting ready for shows enjoyable for him.

We are very proud of his achievements to date having been best puppy in breed and puppy group placings at numerous Open shows and Championship shows. He was awarded his first Challenge Certificate at The United St Bernard Club Championship Show age 12 months.’ Says Penny.

Mrs Parry awarded VHC in the dog class to Rottweiler, Paloduro Gold Dollar At Maddiecass JW SHCM, who is owned by Sandra Evans.

Thank you to all who entered.
