In this Waggy Tale we meet cheeky Cocker Spaniel Max and his owner Frances.
Max has always had a thing for steeling socks, and owner Frances had learnt to be vigilant since bringing Max home as a puppy. One particular day, Max had snuck off and was looking particularly mischievous, so Frances decided to investigate. It came as no surprise to Frances that Max had managed to hunt down a single trainer sock and was in the process of trying to gobble it up. Luckily Frances got there in time and was able to assist Max who was having difficulties regurgitating said trainer sock.
Weeks passed and there had been no further socks stolen, however Max had started to look off colour and was showing little interest in his food which is highly unusual for a spaniel.
‘I decided to take Max to the vets for an emergency visit. The vets were great and saw to Max immediately where they placed him on a drip and organised x-rays and blood tests.’, explains Frances.
The x-rays showed a dark shadow which the vets determined to be a foreign body. It was decided that surgery was needed to remove the object.
‘I was very concerned about the vet bills and how long the process of claiming on my pet insurance would take, however both the vets and Buddies have been marvellous. The vets sent the forms directly to Buddies who dealt with the claim and the team were great. The whole process has been completely hassle free.’, adds Frances.
I’m sure you can predict how this story ends. The foreign body removed from Max was of course another stolen sock.
Sock thief Max is now doing well and is back to his normal playful self, however Frances and her family will remain on sock watch for the foreseeable future.
