Meet Poppy, the star of this week’s throwback Thursday.
11-year-old Long Haired Jack Russell, Poppy, has been with dad Darran and his family since she was just 6 weeks old.
‘As a child, I had a rat phobia. I saw an agricultural TV program called ‘Out of Town’ where they featured a team of rat catching Jack Russell’s’. I wanted one from that moment onward.’ Says Darran.
Although Darran’s rat catching tactics didn’t go to plan.
‘We had a rat in our garden last summer whilst having a BBQ. We thought this would be Poppy’s time to shine. But no. Poppy went running back in the house and curled up in her bed. Apparently catching rats is not in her job description!’
We asked Darran for one of Poppy’s funny stories…
‘One Saturday morning we received a random phone call from somebody who had found Poppy running loose in a neighbouring road. Our son had left the gate open, but we didn’t even know she was missing. The guy said he’d drop her back in his van. I went to the front of the house to see a large Royal Mail post van driving towards me with Poppy running across his dash board – that’s what you call a special delivery!’ Explains Darran.
We are always on the look out for handsome hounds and pretty pups to feature in our #ThrowbackThursday blogs. If you would like to take part, email Becks at Hello@Buddies.co.uk.
