Meet Islay, the star of this week’s throwback Thursday. Miniature Poodle Islay is older sister to Aonghus, who recently featured on our blog.
20-month-old Islay has been with parents Marc and Eilidh since she was just 8 weeks old.
‘Islay was our first dog. My partner Eilidh’s sister has a Mini Poodle and we fell in love with him, so knew if we were to get a dog, it had to be this breed. I have quite bad allergies to most dogs too but I’m fine with Poodles.’ Says dad Marc.
Little Islay was from a breeder based in County Durham. The breeder lived in the countryside, where they have a small holding with sheep and cats. As Islay grew up around cats, she now loves them and is always keen to make friends.
‘It took her until she was about a year old to dip her feet in water, but one day everything changed, and she was suddenly happy to dive into the water swimming. Now she won’t stay out. Poodles were ancient water retrievers, so she must still have the gene.’ Adds Marc.
Islay is a hide and seek superstar. Marc and Eilidh will hide an item in the room and ask her to find it. Then will then lie down facing it when she sniffs it out.
We are always on the hunt for #FriendsOfBuddies to take part in our throwback Thursday blogs. If you would like to get involved, email Hello@Buddies.co.uk.
