The future is here. Long gone are the days of guessing what your pooch gets up to while home alone.
There are a vast range of pet tech products on the market to help you keep track of your pooch and their needs.
With monitoring devices such as the ‘Petzi Wi-Fi Pet Camera and Treat Dispenser’, you can now feel a little less worried and guilty if you should have to leave your dog at home for a short period. The device and app allow you to see what your pet is up to, take candid photos, speak to them, and even dispense a treat.
Buddies team member Gemma also uses a pet monitor to check in on office dog Mollie when she is home alone. Gemma has a ‘Hive Home Camera’ which sends a live feed direct to her mobile phone.
The pet tech market also has a host of pet entertainment devices. The award winning ‘IFetch Interactive Ball Launcher’ allows you to set the distance to suit your pet and is activated when your dog drops the ball into the top. Their range of products allow your dog to make their own fun.
We recently tested the Kippy V-Pet from Vodafone on a few of our office dogs to see what they get up to on a daily basis (and also to try and prove that Elvis isn’t as lazy as the Buddies team think).
The Kippy has a range of useful features such as –
Tracking – If you’re out for walkies and your dog doesn’t return when called but there’s no need to panic. Just open the app and the GPS tracker will show you your dog’s location.
Safe Zones – The Kippy’s safe zones feature allows you to draw a virtual fence around a set area on a map. If your dog strays from the safe zone, you will receive a notification.
Health – The Kippy tracks your dog’s activity from walking, running, sleeping, eating and even calorie consumption in a dashboard with a daily view and allows you to set goals to maintain their health.
Office Dogs Elvis, Buddy, Barney and Izzy gave the Kippy a try, and its safe to say the results were not surprising. Energetic and crazy office Dogs Buddy and Izzy were the most active, and Barney met his activity targets daily. Elvis, on the other hand, did not. Little Elv is by far our laziest office dog and loves nothing more than a cuddle. Following the Kippy results, much to Elvis disappointment, his exercise has been upped.
