Pet Hacks

In this blog we take a look at some well discovered life hacks for dog owners. These every day tips may make life a little easier for you and your pooch.

Picking up dog fur – both dryer sheets and rubber gloves pick up unwanted loose dog hair. Simply brush them over your clothes, furnishings or even your dogs back to pick up any excess fur.

Scratch marks – cover up scratch marks on wooden surfaces by rubbing a walnut across them. The natural oils from the walnut will seep into the wood filling the marks.

Flea test – worried your pup may have fleas? Sit them on a white towel when brushing. This will make it easier to spot the flea dirt fall from the coat.

Teeth – Does your pup dislike it when you brush their teeth? Rub some doggy toothpaste into a rope toy. This way, as your dog chews and plays, the motion will naturally clean their teeth.

Celebration poops – each time your puppy pees and poops outdoors, have a mini celebration. Your pup will learn pretty quickly that this is a good thing.

Catch – having trouble teaching your pup to catch? Try using popcorn, it falls slower than most treats and toys and once your dog has a taste, they will be keen to perfect the catch.

Distraction – want to distract your pup when you leave the house? Those little pots you get with your laundry detergent can prove to be a great distraction. Simply rub some peanut butter around the pot. As these pots are rounded, this should distract your pup for a while.
