The Buddies team recently filmed an educational video to help people understand the importance of pet insurance and the policy types available.
We searched far and wide for the perfect pooch to help us get this message across. After months of searching, we found Betty.
Betty was an absolute superstar during filming. We want to introduce you to our little diva and give you a few behind the scene sneak peeks.
Little Betty is a 3-year-old Maltese cross Yorkshire Terrier who lives with her mum Louise in Yorkshire.
Mum Louise told us a little bit more about Betty and how she became to be the superstar she is today.
‘I was looking for either a Yorkshire Terrier or Maltese puppy, and during my search, I came across Betty who is a cross of both. Both her parents were family pets and lived together. I went to view her, and the house was a very busy family house with other dogs running around and family popping in and out. I was able to meet both her parents and knew that she was the puppy for us.’
‘I reserved her and told the owners she would be called Betty. I was lucky as she knew her name from just 3 was old. Betty is my first ever dog and it felt a lifetime waiting for her to be old enough to leave her Mum. The owner was great though and kept in touch with lots of updates and photos.’ Says Louise.
Louise was keen to learn about dog ownership, so she enrolled in puppy classes at a local dog club.
Both Louise and Betty still attend the same classes and Betty has passed all levels, including gold.
‘Betty has always been very smart and loves to learn tricks and play games with me. Betty has always loved people and belly rubs. From an early age she would stop at people’s feet and wait for a belly rub, I thought she would maybe grow out of it and was a puppy thing. However, she will still choose somebody at random, stop them and roll over until they rub her belly. It’s happened at bus stops, walking up the street on trains, and even in a muddy puddle.’ Adds Louise.
As Betty loves people so much, Louise registered with ‘Pets as Therapy’ and they have been visiting the elderly, dementia and stroke ward for a year now.
‘We go in every week and they simply adore her.’ Says Louise.
Betty was absolutely fantastic during the two days of filming and stole everyone’s hearts. The team were blown away by her obedience and endless amounts of tricks.
We can’t wait to share the final video with you. Keep your eyes peeled.
