We recently caught up with Buddies Breeder Kath Turner.
Kath, who is based in Co Tyrone, has been breeding Australian Silky Terriers for over 8 years.
Kath got her first Silky, Katie, back in 2006 and only retired her from showing last November. Katie is an Irish Champion and Veteran Champion and in her final 2 shows, she won Best Veteran.
‘My first litter was with Ella, who had 4 babies all born inside an hour with no problems. Puppies are black when they are born with tan on their ears. They take on their blue silver and tan colours as they mature. I kept one of the pups Andre and he is an Irish Champion, junior Champion and Irish Celtic Winner.’
‘My second litter was with Celine who is a Junior Champion. What a handling that was! Midnight and a call to the vet because she was in trouble. 4 babies born by emergency C section. Thankfully they all survived. I kept one named Dexter who is a Junior Champion and just loves showing off in the ring.’, says Kath.
Andre went on to be shown at Crufts and has had many achievements. Another of Kaths pups, Misty, is an International Champion, Irish Champion and a Junior champion. She has also won the Celtic Winner Award Twice.
Each of Kath’s dogs are registered at therapy dogs too.
Kath has been a Buddies breeder for many years now and we look forward to working with her in the future.
