Office dog Barney recently went on a pretty impressive adventure. We caught up with mum Lorraine to find out what he got up to.
‘My husband and Barney’s dad ,Martin, is a member of the East Midlands Balloon Group and co-pilots the red & black balloon called Spot. They’ve been lucky and privileged to have been invited to the annual Chatsworth House Country Fair for the last almost 30 years’
‘Barney has been going for the last 4 years, and unlike his brother, he loves it. The sound of the burners doesn’t even make him blink. (Poor Alfie spent the ballooning time hiding in the back of truck).
This year we were lucky enough to fly every available slot which is 6.30am and 6pm. The weather was perfect for flying and ambling around the park.
It’s hard work, driving the balloon trailer to the take off site, unpacking the basket and envelope (the balloon), laying it out, inflating, then once the balloon has gone up, the rest of the crew get in the truck to follow (retrieve) and once landed it’s all hands-on deck to deflate the envelope and pack it away again. Afterwards it’s off site to re-gas the cylinders ready for the next day’s flying.’ Say’s Lorraine.
You can see from the photos that Barney absolutely loves his annual day out at the Chatsworth House Country Fair. There are rumours that barney may even be able to go up in the balloon next year. We haven’t told Barney yet as we don’t ant him to get too excited.
