Originally bred to hunt vermin, the Miniature Pinscher is now more commonly a companion animal, happier to stay indoors at the side of its owner. It has a strong protective instinct and is always alert to changes in the home. This is an active breed and owners need to show a degree of patience when coping with this dog’s curious nature. The Miniature Pinscher is generally not suited to households with children, prefering to take centre stage themselves and showing puppy-like behaviour. Owners need to be aware of the importance of a good diet, because unchecked this pet can easily become overweight.
